Performance Skiing: Training and Techniques to Make You a Better Alpine Skier Review

Performance Skiing: Training and Techniques to Make You a Better Alpine Skier
Average Reviews:

A very practical book with a focus on the physical skills involved in alpine skiing. The best combined collection of off-hill and on-hill training exercises I've seen and, as a bonus, excellent race skill development tips from an experienced coach (who's also done it himself). If you are interested in philosophy or the Newtonian physics of a ski turn, there are other books. If you like to (or want to learn to) ski hard, this is a great book.

How the Racers Ski Review

How the Racers Ski
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I read this book on the advice of a fellow ski journeyman (now renowned Aspen Mountain Ski Instructor, Paul Wade) in the mid 70's as an instructor at Sugarbush, Vt. I've been skiing all my life and this book almost single handedly - along with Paul's advice - changed my skiing forever delivering me to the 'next level' ... the magic "it" where the "there" is. Witherall's clear and concise writing took me from an excellent skier [albeit sliding, sometimes carved turns] to an expert, consistently on the ski's edge with beautiful ripped and carved turns. Even with shorter, phatter skiis of 2004, Witherall's writing is still current and uniquely relevant, if not even more so because skiis have gotten so much better as described by Witherall [maybe even predicted? where yesterday's term "sidecut" means the same as today's "parabolic"] ...If you understand how skiis work, and Witherall documents this, you'll understand even more how phat, tapered waist, i.e parabolic, skiis will help you, partner with you, to carve perfect turns. I hear this book has been controversial, that not everyone agree's with Witherall [in Western US ski teaching camps with softer snow conditions, there's more emphasis on equal weighting and "sliding" your skis], but until otherwise advised, this book has no equal for learning how skiis work and how to carve and rip through harder packed, iced, Eastern US ski conditions. It will take you to a rad, bad and oh so fine expert level wherever you ski, however freestyle you go.

In this book Witherell provided competitive skiers with a guide to modern racing technique and offers recreational skiers a more natural and efficient way to ski than is usually taught in ski schools. More than 100 photographs and drawings.

If you know anyone who's a Red Sox fan, or a park-hopping baseball fan, or a new Boston-area resident, I can't think of a gift that's more practical and/or entertaining. Shea's charts ensure that you'll have a good view of the game; his materials on where to eat, where to stay, or where to park will help you make your visit that much more enjoyable. (And if you're new to the Nation, his explication of the Red Sox-Yankee rivalry will prove invaluable.)

Above and Beyond: Tim Mack, the Pole Vault, and the Quest for Olympic Gold Review

Above and Beyond: Tim Mack, the Pole Vault, and the Quest for Olympic Gold
Average Reviews:

I spent my high school years in the high jump pit and was always jealous of the glory guys who needed a pole to achieve lift-off.
Now I know why I was jealous. Pole vaulters really are more interesting than the rest of us, regardless of whether we've ever competed in track and field.
Bill Livingston's crackerjack telling of Tim Mack's high flown adventures is the most interesting book I've read all year -- and there's not a high jumper in it.
"Above and Beyond" proves that some of the best writing in this country is done by the lonely guys way up there fighting deadline pressure in a stuffy press box. Livingston is one of the sportswriting's finest practitioners. And Mack's story is infinitely worth the telling.

Winner of the 2009 National Media Award from the Pole Vault Development Committee of USA Track and FieldForeWord Magazine's 2008 Silver Award Winner for Excellence in Sports Books "Above and Beyond is a treat. Livingston's knowledge and love of the sport shines through."--David Maraniss, author of Rome 1960: The Olympics That Changed the WorldTwo Olympic medalists were recognized at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, days before Christmas 2004. One was the Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James, the "Chosen One" of the NBA. He had a bronze medal from the Athens games that summer. The other was a Cleveland homeboy too, a gold medalist who had flown higher than anyone before on the Olympic stage. Hardly anyone knew his name. He was Tim Mack. His high school coach did not see anything particularly promising in the young pole-vaulter. Mack never made it to the state meet, and he was the first to admit he had a fear of heights. But thanks to his unflinching determination and confidence, Mack went on to prove that he was anything but mediocre. In 2004 the young athlete won the Olympic gold medal for pole vaulting. His jump of 19 feet 6-1/4 inches was not only Mack's personal best but the highest in Olympic history.Award-winning sports columnist Bill Livingston follows Mack as he practices one of the world's most dangerous and demanding sports. Livingston reveals the fascinating subculture of pole vaulting--from Bob Richards, the only man to win Olympic gold twice in pole vaulting; to Sergey Bubka, the most controversial pole vaulter ever; to Don Bragg, a rowdy Tarzan-like character who swung on ropes in his backyard to build upper-body strength; to the stirring duel between Mack and Toby Stevenson as they battled for gold in Athens.Readers will discover how Mack struggled and endured, while working in a factory, as a mascot in a bumblebee costume, and as a janitor, and how Mack changed his training and revamped his body and mind in a three-year program that made his AOL username, Goldnathens, a self-fulfilling prophecy.

be prepared for it least the day a work if you're going to install this yourself
I'm 6'9" 270 pounds and I wanted a basket that I could dunk on and not have to worry about damaging it. This basket is made of excellent materials and is very heavy duty and so far has performed well.

Spalding In-Ground Basketball System with Glass Backboard, 60 x 34-Inch Review

Spalding In-Ground Basketball System with Glass Backboard, 60 x 34-Inch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Wanted to leave a review praising this system and commented on other review.
I agree with you. The instructions are terrible. However the goal is the best in the mid-range price.
The new systems like this one has a two piece pole. The bottom pole is straight with no holes and the top pole has holes and is beveled to go over the bottom. The bevel is about 4 or 5" deep so that's how far the bottom must go in. Mark the bottom pole about 5" down and then bang the top pole on by bouncing on a solid surface till it goes down to the mark or close. I would not have stopped after 2". If it just won't go, I would call Spalding for a new pole. They are good about sending out parts, fast too-800-558-5234. A one piece pole would be best but would require all shipping to be done via truck not UPS so more expensive plus, would it have fit in your minivan?
The PLASTIC ground sleeve should not be used unless you plan on moving soon. It is plastic and allows too much wobble. Goals should be as sturdy as possible not removable.
The pole should go directly into the cement about 14" or to the top of sleeve if you insist on using that. Level the pole at the top because that segment will hold the backboard. Face in the direction you want it to face and let dry for 3 sunny days.
Day2 is easier done with a ladder not by removing the pole. Simply carry an arm up the ladder and bolt. Carry the second with plates and bolt. Attach the crank thingy. With helper, attach the backboard. Attach the rim and tighten all bolts. Find 10', mark crank thingy, apply sticker. Doing the Day2 from the back of a pickup is easiest and a 1 man job.
Now is when you want to add concrete to the pole. Mix another bag a bit wetter than usual so it will pour from a bucket down the pole. Do this slowly to not make a mess. Also, tape the joint on the pole because some cement will leak out there and it stains the pole and won't come off. Let it dry for two days and remove tape.
The instructions are bad, written by lawyers i'm sure. Read them to get the idea and also use them for all the details of bolts and washers but do the rest my way.
Instructions Here:
[...]
*Notice STEP 1 talks about identifying the pole sections (now only two sections). STEP 8 on page 11 shows how to put poles together and has a warning stating "Pole sections should have a 4 ½" (11.4 cm) minimum overlap."

Designed to install in a driveway or other static environment, this Spalding in-ground basketball system will turn your home into a jump-shooting haven. The system starts with a 60-inch-wide, 1/4-inch-thick tempered glass backboard with a heavy-duty steel frame. The board offers the same action as pro backboards, helping you shoot layups and bank shots with confidence. The solid-steel Pro Image rim, meanwhile, supports aggressive play--a must for modern hoops. And hops-challenged players will love the hoop's U-Turn lift system, which includes a removable crank that lets you adjust the height from 7.5 to 10 feet in infinite increments. Other features include a two-piece, 4-inch square pole that provides less "wobble" than round poles; a full 2 feet of clearance between the pole and backboard; professional-looking aluminum trim around the backboard frame; and powder-coated steel parts to resist rust.

Kelty Trail Dome 4 Four Person Tent Review

Kelty Trail Dome 4 Four Person Tent
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Price: $159.99 at local Sports Authority
Weather Conditions: Cloudy, with sunbreaks. 2 days car camping.
Weight: Fairly light. 8 lbs.
Set-Up: The strength and durability of the aluminum poles are definetly worth the investment. You don't have to worry about snapping the poles unlike the fiberglass poles. I recommend putting the poles in the base "fastex" clips first, and then attaching the plastic clips on second. It's not really clear in the instructions. If you just bought this tent, I recommend practicing pitching the tent a few times. The first run took almost 30 minutes.I was able to set up this tent in under 10 minutes by myself. Always, always use a footprint or tarp when camping to save you from damaging the tent floor and moisture from the ground. Be sure to sweep your area of pine cones and small rocks. I also recommend getting beefier stakes. I've read the MSR Groundhog stakes are nice, but I got some $3 plastic ones at Walmart for a set of 6.
Tent fly: I like how the tent fly "clips" into the fastex clips at each corner. Also, I've read complaints of how the tent fly doesn't provide a good awning if you decide to step out during the rain. Pay attention to the color coded straps that will tell you how the tent fly is installed.
Front opening: The zipper of the opening is overstretched near the top. I was nervous that the zipper couldn't handle the stress of the two poles stretching it. I had to use a fastex clip with a strap (similar to the cross strap on a backpack) to wrap around the poles and pull them together to relieve the stress on the zipper. That solved the problem.
Storage compartments inside the tent: There are 4 mesh pockets at each corner of the tent. But they're aren't any hooks near the top of the tents if you wanted to hook a lantern to the roof.
Inside Space: I'm 5'7" and I was able to stand up completely with my head crouched a little bit. This is truly a 2 person camp with gear. I was able to fit a queen size air mat with no problems. The zipper wasn't as quiet as I hoped it to be. It still sounded like a zipper being pulled. The zipper was very smooth once I adjusted the two poles with the plastic strap. I didn't see any condensation the next morning, so I guess the tent vents very well.
Suggestions for design: This would be a perfect tent if it had a vestibule to store dirty clothes, boots, etc. A 2nd door would be nice, too.
Overall, I think I'll upgrade the the Kelty Gunnison 4.1 since it has a vestibule and a 2nd door. This is a nice tent for the camper on a budget.

An ideal family-camping tent that offers a view of the stars at the campground or in the backcountry, the Kelty Trail Dome 4 features a simple pole design and clip-sleeve construction that make it a snap to pitch. Offering spacious room for four, the Trail Dome 4 has a 55 square foot floor area (but does not include a storage vestibule). It features internal storage pockets, mesh ceiling, gear loft loops, side-release buckle tent-fly connection, noiseless zipper pulls that resist jingling when it's windy, and color-coded clip construction with DAC DA17 aluminum poles.
The DA17 pre-bent poles are made of proprietary aluminum alloy designed by DAC specifically for tents, which provides a large diameter pole with high stiffness, strength and durability at an affordable price. The clip construction provides great fly separation and increased air movement, and it makes it easier to set-up your tent but offers less strength than full-length sleeves. The clips connecting the poles to the tent are color-coded so set-up is easy and quick in low light conditions.
The Water Tight Wall (WTW) construction keeps the doors and windows from leaking, even in driving rain. All exposed walls are constructed of coated fabrics with the seams shingled downward to shed water. Exposed windows and doors have wide flaps covering the edges so they won't leak at the zipper even in high winds. Kelty's ArcEdge construction lifts floor seams up off the ground, preventing water seepage around the floor and wall seams. Taped seams on the floor and the rainfly ensure that the tent is protected from moisture and wet weather.

Lifetime 71525 In-Ground Basketball System with 54-Inch Shatter Guard Backboard Review

Lifetime 71525 In-Ground Basketball System with 54-Inch Shatter Guard Backboard
Average Reviews:

I bought this for 299.99 before the holidays. It's gone up in price, but looks and feels as good as a unit 2 to 3 times the price I paid. The system arrived promptly, in perfect condition, with all the parts there. My installer (an all around do-it-yourselfer, which I'm not), had no difficulties, and the system works perfectly. The power lift tool is amazing.

Hone your jumpshot in your spare moments or perform a backyard dunking drill with the Lifetime 71525 in-ground basketball goal. Designed for permanent installations in cemented driveways, the 71525 includes such features as a Shatter Guard backboard, a spring-back Slam-It Pro Rim, and a Power Lift pole mechanism for speedy height changes.
The goal's sturdiness stems from the cement-ready base, which is more rigid and takes up less space than portable basketball goals (it does require roughly 72 hours of cement drying time, however). The clear 54-inch Shatter Guard backboard, meanwhile, is made of Makrolon polycarbonate, which is virtually unbreakable and 30 times stronger than acrylic. As a result, broken backboards are a thing of the past, even from errant rocks and other non-basketball threats. In addition, the board offers a UV coating that prevents yellowing over time, a high-impact polyethylene frame, and screen-printed inks for fade-resistant color.
Lifetime knows that dunking and above-the-rim play are a huge part of modern basketball, which is why the 71525 also comes with both a height adjustment mechanism and a spring-back rim. The Power Lift tool raises or lowers the rim from 7-1/2 to 10 feet in infinite increments without requiring a broomstick, crank, or other tool. The user simply squeezes the handle to activate the pneumatic mechanism, which lifts or lowers the backboard to the desired level. Thanks to the Power Lift technology, players of all ages and skill levels can enjoy the game on their own terms, while aspiring dunkers can gradually raise the level an inch at a time as their vertical improves.
The arena-style Slam-It Pro Rim, meanwhile, is designed specifically for players who like to throw down. The 5/8-inch solid-steel rim features wraparound bracing and double-compression springs that give way during dunks to protect the player, then spring back once released. The rim is also supported by 1/2-inch braces, with welded-steel net hooks and an all-weather nylon net.
The 71525, which comes with a blow-molded backboard frame pad for protection, carries a five-year warranty.
Amazon.com Basketball System Buying Guide With the high-quality construction of many portable basketball systems, turning your driveway into a basketball court can be as simple as hooking up your garden hose. But while a portable system may ultimately be your best choice, there are reasons you may want to consider an in-ground or wall-mount system before you decide.
In-Ground Systems In-ground systems are permanently cemented into the ground--either via a bolt mounting kit or directly into the ground--and are generally more rigid and take up less space than portables. In-ground systems often require that you hire a professional to complete the task, but when the cement dries you'll have a hoop that can take punishing dunks with ease.
Many in-ground systems are height-adjustable, include removable post features that let you take the system down for off-season storage, and feature heavy-duty break-away rims. You'll also want to research the adjustable mechanisms on the systems, as there are several types to choose from. Some feature a counter-balance spring that lets you perform easy, one-hand adjustments while others may feature a sturdy, pneumatic system.
Wall-Mount Systems Wall-mount systems can be mounted to the side of a house, a tall retaining wall, or a garage. Generally sturdier than portables, wall-mounts have the added advantage of optimizing your existing ground space for the court, since you won't take any space up with the base or pole. Not all systems include the necessary hardware, so make certain you add a mounting kit to your list.
Portable Systems Portable systems require minimal installation and offer ultimate convenience. These systems generally feature a base that can be filled with sand or water to stabilize them and include wheels for portability. Although they are not as sturdy as in-ground or wall-mounted hoops, portables are simple to set up and can often be folded for convenient storage.
Backboard Considerations Regardless of which system you choose, you'll want to brush up on Backboards 101. Most residential systems feature backboards made of acrylic, fiberglass, graphite, or various other composite materials. While clear acrylic gives the professional look and feel of glass, it is not as rigid as fiberglass or graphite. Some systems may offer steel or aluminum backboards, which are virtually vandal resistant, but don't offer the true rebounding action.
The regulation size of an NBA backboard is 72 inches wide and 42 inches high. Most portable hoops are 42 or 44 inches wide and 36 inches tall. In-ground systems tend to be a bit larger, with 54-inch and 60-inch widths being the most popular. While rectangular shaped backboards provide more bank shot opportunities, they are generally more expensive than the streamlined fan-shaped board.

Contour Wearable Camcorder (Black) Review

Contour Wearable Camcorder (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Questions I often get~ Where have you been? You don't have one of these yet?
I know show me some footage you say! - You must check the site for some great videos people have made from just quick clips some with no editing at all to full on short movies. I recommend that because there is not enough room to describe how cool this wireless and very light camera is to use - but I'll try! I'm a customer not an employee... and "i am pc!"
Camera is so light and versatile I've used a basic piece of Velcro strapped to my cap visor during golf, stuck it to my bike frame, velcro'd to my motorcycle kickstand, strapped it to ski pole to check a wasp nest, and of course it serves great as a plain ol' helmet cam too.
Someone even stuck it to an RC Plane. Even on their dog for a dog cam view. yup! Set yourself free!! no wires means you will not have to worry about much except wiping out while catching your buddies on film.
With the flick of the glovable slider on/off switch and audible sounds and aiming lasers you are able to basically use it with your eyes closed or even place it where you can't see it during filming. Its got a supermic as well - it will pickup a pin dropping ;o) All which can be adjusted when you edit/censor your movies even add music.
The build quality is very durable and can take impact. Trust me ;o)and the adhesive with supplied mount is semi permanent you may have to use a crowbar to take it off but you do not have to worry even at well ~ unsafe speeds. Basically you can be creative on where you place this camera knowing it will film for over an hour+ of footage at a time. Battery life will last about 3gb or more of video on a good charge.
Package comes with microSD card but Sandisk premier 2gb card is best to use with this unit. This battery should be charged by separate charger which seems to super charge the battery, usb charge by a pc is not going to help you get out there filming quick enough. Specially, when you need 2 batteries for a full day of mtn.biking, or Snowboarding so you still have juice- after you warm up and stop wiping out. The packaged items that come with camera is a good starter kit with a mount, cam, sd card, battery - you have software(which VholdR updates with cool new features every so often) which assists you in producing your video to the VholdR.com site for sharing. Yes, they have a producer hub for you to share your videos.
Oh yah, the desktop software also supports _mac now. of course "I AM PC!"
My VholdR carry along always ready ALLDAY bag contains: 2 batteries and 3 2gb sd cards - since camera software does not yet support larger sd cards. Which really is not a problem because 2gb cards are cheap. Cabela's #2 scope cover for lens, extra stick on mount(never know where you might be)
Quality of video for this unit is not HD but captures quality STABLE videos when moving fast. At slow captures like walking or filming a party its just like any other camera. Some lighting issues may occur depending on where you are filming at high speed, i.e. Night time, shadow/bright light changes.
640x480 is still a fine size which uses less space on SDcard, it sure would be nice to be able to toggle resolution WHEN larger SDHC card support is there.
My VholdR has been thru rain, mud, dirt and has so far over 4months has been such an enjoyable experience i can easily recommend to others.
VholdR receives additional "way cool marks" for providing Desktop Software to help with managing movie uploads. Software updates and firmware updates prove they are not just a camera maker. Oh did i mention a cool site to share your movies for free?
Overall experience is that this is not just a camera - so two swollen thumbs and two purple toes up for this gem of a camera from me!
Ok enough typing... check for yourself get out there and shoot its almost snow season get your angles dialed. Where you been?
my best examples would be ~ thatsMOCKFOO on VholdR website btw, i have no idea who that nut is!
~ go get some videos people!VholdR Wearable Camcorder (Black)
My only negatives are,
* 2gb max microsd support(not a big deal) after cutting up videos i find smaller clips are easier to manage anyways.
* When the battery dies if you are still in ON mode - your video is not closed so the last video clip could be corrupt. So I changed my habit until that is figured out.
* Making shorter clips is easier to manage I've found. Just accept turning it off then on about an hour into video or gauge your battery life like a gas tank. You can check how much battery and sd card is left by pressing the button btw.
* Lighting changes from super dark shadows transition to super bright sections of trail may take a short while for focus depending on where camera is mounted. Not many cameras can handle this anyways.
These are minor negatives but prevent a 5 from me.
Still a super camera for a such a light wireless and reasonably priced for good action video camera that i won't mind thrashing a bit filming in the elements. This is a rugged camera which you can capture action in ways you may not with your bulky thousand dollar HD camera. Like strapping it to your snowboard or your motorcycle kickstand, or how about your mountain bike pedal? Escape from the paradigm of the helmet cam.

Goalrilla GLR GS 54 Basketball System Review

Goalrilla GLR GS 54 Basketball System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We were looking at purchasing a Goalrilla basketball system for a few years now. The newer GS54 seems to be of the same quality as the older models and though it's a little cheaper than the old series it feels rock solid. Either way, we finally decided to pull the trigger and get it in place for a recent party. Assembly is pretty easy but the instructions are a little off on the amount of concrete it says is needed. We went through 12 x 80lb bags of Quickrete and we dug our hold according to specs so word of advice buy extra concrete. Two more bags should not cost you more than an additional $10 so save yourself some hassle. I had 10 bags mixed (2 at a time) and poured them into the hole before finding out I needed two more!!! Good thing is I am minutes away from Home Depot. Outside of that I managed to get the pole up myself and bolted and to get the rim up I backed my pickup up to the post and hefted the backboard onto the mounting arm while my wife put the bolts on. You'll probably be better off with 2-3 people to help with that step but I had to try it myself. Final result is an absolutely great basketball system that plays like a professional system!

Players insist on Goalrilla because it's still made according to the belief that they deserve the best performing system we can make. It's why we insist on welded construction rather than screws or bolts. It's why we make pole in one piece and protect them with tough powder coating. It's why corrosion-resistant zinc hardware is standard. It all adds up to this: Goalrilla stands alone for unmatched quality, exceptional durability, and unrivaled playability.

SKLZ Practice Net Review

The support poles are the type that are held together by a long elastic strap and you insert them end to end to make a large pole. The strap broke the second time I set up the net so I was left with a bunch of small untethered sticks. The third time I set it up (after carfully inserting the separate sticks) the netting ripped.

Oh my goodness this is the greatest addition to our basketball goal! It lights up the entire driveway! My kids play so much more now that it is getting dark so early. It was professionally installed but watching him, I think I could have done it. We are so happy with it.

This is a very popular toy with my almost ten year old! She was given the opportunity to pick two gifts for Christmas this year, and this was one of them. She has already mastered walking around the house. The adults, when trying these stilts out, make for very funny commentary.

Hit-A-Way Baseball - Jeter Series Review

Hit-A-Way Baseball - Jeter Series
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The premise behind hit-a-way is fine: hit the ball hard enough that it wraps around the pole tightly, let it unwind, and then hit it again as it comes around. It looks great in the video. Real life - not so much.
We tried to use this a couple of years ago with a group of 7-8 year-olds. My observations:
1) Young hitters, probably up to at least age 10, can't reliably hit the ball hard enough to get it to wrap around the pole. You end up needing an adult to re-wrap the cable and "launch" the ball. This greatly reduces the repetitions and the usefulness.
2) Poles are harder to find than you might think on a baseball field. You basically need either a basketball goal or you need to buy the "portable" pole that is sold separately (note - very heavy and expensive - not worth it)
3) Because the ball comes in from an angle and at an odd speed, I question the value for young hitters. It is hard enough to learn to time a swing with a thrown pitch. Trying to also learn to time an uncoiling cable was counterproductive.
Bottom line - we tried it for a couple of practices and then gave up.
Who could use this? Well - if you have a 12 year or older hitter who wants to get in some solo practice AND a handy free-standing pole, I think this would have some value.
Tools to consider that I have found helpful in coaching are a "zip-n-hit" and a "hit-n-stick". Both are available on Amazon. (and also by Hit-A-Way, among other companies).
UPDATE: As pointed out in the comments, the age at which this becomes helpful depends on the skill and motivation of the child and the supervision of the parent or coach. I don't doubt that there are some younger kids who would do well with this. I do recommend keeping an eye on batting form. Since this is somewhat artificial, be sure that a hitter is not using the repetitions to cement bad habits.

Endorsed by All-Star Derek Jeter! A player can use Hit-A-Way to warm-up or practice most anywhere, even in limited space. Simulates pitches without chasing balls. Develops hand eye coordination and is the perfect tool when learning to switch hit. New materials in cord produce better timing to develop stance and swing mechanics. Hit-A-Way is very easy to carry, weighing less than two pounds. Can be stored in bat bags, back packs or carry- alls. "The hottest new batting aid on the market today." Amazing results in ball players of all ages. New sleeve design improves visibility as well as contact feel and sound. (Post not included).

Silverback SB-54iG In-Ground Basketball System with 54-Inch Tempered Glass Backboard Review

Silverback SB-54iG In-Ground Basketball System with 54-Inch Tempered Glass Backboard
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For this price with free shipping, this is a pretty good system for basic driveway fun with the kids. If you want a super sturdy system, you'll have to spend a lot more than $500. There is certainly some vibration but for an entry-level in-ground driveway system with a glass backboard the action seems OK. Installation takes some work but it is pretty straightforward - the instructions are clear and the parts are clearly labeled. It is a good looking hoop and the height adjustment is smooth. Note: This appears to be essentially the same as the Goaliath GB54iG, also from Escalade Sports (manuals are online and are exactly the same). You can find reviews for that system at [...] and the Dicks web site.

I am amazed on how much use this equipment is being used my my children. It absolutely was so easy to install and takes up very little space in the back yard. From my 3 year old to my 10 year old, I think this was an excellent choice to keep them active as well as the whole family. It's great for everyone to enjoy and have continuous fun. I recommend it to anyone who has thought about buying one. I received it all in one package and the instructions were easy as well as the set up.

Don't waste your money! I bought this for my 4 year old. The 1st time we used it, after the 3rd cast, it wouldn't reel in anymore. My husband took it apart and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't reel in. The fishing line was all over the place and my son was very disappointed that his fishing pole wouldn't work. My advice, don't waste your money! It's very cheaply made.
