When I opened the bag, the fishing pole was sticky and wheel part didn't turn. my husband who goes fishing said that it looks like someone already tried to fix it. and he wonders if it was made for left hand because the wheel was on the opposite side.
Anyway, it could've been little bit better if it wasn't broken.
I'm thinking of returning it.
You may consider buying this if it's on sale and very good deal.. but otherwise, don't waste your money.
this is cheep made and it's only for toy.

(More customer reviews)I bought this Reel and Rod Combo to take on a family vacation, in order to teach my 8 year-old how to fish (if we ended up anywhere near the water). I didn't have any fishing gear, and only dim (but great)memories of my dad teaching me when I was a kid.
Well, this kit has everything you need. Rod, reel, line, weights, floats, lures and hooks. I know it's not for the really-serious fishers out there, but this worked fantastic for us! My son even caught a fish!
I'd definitely recommend this to all my friends!

(More customer reviews)Don't waste your money! I bought this for my 4 year old. The 1st time we used it, after the 3rd cast, it wouldn't reel in anymore. My husband took it apart and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't reel in. The fishing line was all over the place and my son was very disappointed that his fishing pole wouldn't work. My advice, don't waste your money! It's very cheaply made.

The item is easy to use and learn. The kid themed design and size work perfect for my nephew and makes it that much more appealing for him to learn how to fish with his dad. The one that came was NOT the one I ordered, which bummed me out, cause the one they sent, I had seen cheaper at walmart (& others on here with eligable for FREE SHIP & this one did not)but ordered the OTHER want I wanted when I found it here, I was disappointed, but it is still a pink fishing pole, so I guess that will work.

That's IF it casts without snagging. It snags, then here comes your weights, hook and bait slapping you in the face and getting the hook lodged in your eyebrow. Fun times.

Yes, it is cheap, but if you are going to buy it, save yourself the hassle of waiting for it...flush your cash down the toilet instead. It did not properly work, ever, even the very first time. And guess when it comepletely broke and fell apart? The second time of use. I have had many cheap fishing rods for my kids, and have never seen one that behaved as badly as this one. My rating is BOO-HISS.

(More customer reviews)I had a couple of Zebco spincast rods and reels similar to this when I was a kid. They were generally reliable, so I thought one of these would make a good first rod for my 5 year old daughter. But I picked this model up for her last weekend and it just doesn't work. Sometimes it will cast as far as 4 or 5 feet. Most of the time it locks up and does nothing at all, even though I am operating the thing properly.
This reel is unfortunately a completely piece of junk. Literally, you'd be better off tying some line to a flexible stick.

(More customer reviews)The product looked exciting and my son was eager to try it out even though he received it as a X'mas present. Unfortunately as soon as we tried it we realized it was defective, the line would not reel back in. We tried to look for instructions but nothing is available except what it is on the back of the packaging and the link to the manufacturer's web site did not provide any additional information. The one year warranty is a joke since they require you to send in $8.95 to cover shipping and handling and ship the defective part back. Given that the entire assembly cost less than that it is a pretty worthless warranty.

My granddaughter practiced and practiced her casting and then did go fishing with daddy. Unfortunately she didn't catch anything but the rod and reel are very cute, sturdy....perhaps the next time they go fishing she'll get the "catch of the day."
