(More customer reviews)I have one of these holders. The shaft that goes into the ground is made of soft metal. The point on the shaft will bend. You will have to grind a new point if you want the holder to work properly. If you are using this holder in sandy soil with out any rocks it will be okay. Add an extra lock washer to the wing nut to keep the system tight.

My husband took it apart and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't reel in. The fishing line was all over the place and my son was very disappointed that his fishing pole wouldn't work. My advice, don't waste your money! It's very cheaply made.

NOTE: it calls for 150lbs of sand. unfortunately, when i went to get the sand, it does not list the weight. if you go to lowes or walmart, it takes 3 and 1/2 bags to fill it up. i've seen people say that the ball loses it's color out in the sun, well, instead of taking it down everyday, i just take a plastic grocery bag and tie it around the ball when not in use, easy fix!

(More customer reviews)I bought this for my 3-yr old son as a birthday gift and he's played with it for a couple of months now. Overall, I'd rate it 4 of 5 stars, a great toy with only minor complaints which kept me from giving it a perfect rating.
PROS: (2) Fishing poles, (4) Fishes + Container + Coins + Treasure Chest (a good variety instead of fish only toys), safe velcro method instead of using hooks, more challenging (in a good way) vs. using magnets, durable toy and thick string (fishing line).
CONS: Velcro on end of fishing pole came off twice and needed to glue it back on, fish toys are fairly heavy to reel up, sometimes velcro "hook" gets caught/tangled on carpet surface, coins are a little too small in size to catch.
Overall, it seems to be a pretty fun and durable toy that I would recommend to family and friends to buy for young kids. Thanks for reading my review.
*(Jan 2011) EDIT: I guess it was bound to happen, the fishing line got tangled up in his toys and got a bunch of knots on the string. He was tying toys to the string and while holding the pole, would drag them around the house. This fishing pole has gone through a lot and didn't snap (sorry to read that it broke in other reviews). But it's time to throw that away since all the knots make it difficult to reel up anything. Luckily, there's the 2nd fishing pole I kept as a spare in the closet. Now, my son is playing with his fishing toys again, properly this time thanks to his daddy showing him how to play it and watching closely...haha.

2 Piece 10' Bamboo Fishing Pole (EA) Review

(More customer reviews)Ordered two 10' bamboo poles that came promptly and well packaged. They were attractive. Unfortunately, they are useless if you ever have to pull them apart to transport them in a vehicle. The connectors came right off the pole, even though lubricated when put together, and could not be re-attached and/or crimped back on. I am very disappointed with this produce. I'd send them back and ask for a refund but it is not worth the effort for $5 each. 'You get what you pay for' is true in this case.
Update...I contacted the seller esportsline through Amazon and expressed my problem with poles and they provided a full refund under the warranty. That is good customer service.

Park & Sun TP-158 Deluxe Power Pole Tetherball Set Review

(More customer reviews)I was concerned about the pole being assembled from two pieces, and that was exactly what was wrong with it. Once assembled, the pole was extremely wobbly since (1) the ground sleeve was too short to keep the lower pole piece firmly in place, and (2) the top pole section, once inserted into the bottom, is very unstable. Better solution is to just go to your local fence supplier and buy an 11 foot section of 1 5/8 inch or 1 3/4 inch fence post and matching ground sleeve (min 12 inches, or longer - just make sure to extend the pole length to accomodate the longer ground sleeve). Then just buy the rope and ball set. My local fence co charged $25, and that included a cap and eye ring at one end so I could connect a teatherball rope. FYI, I tried to contact Park and Sun for their feedback about my comments and they never bothered to reply. Don't waste your money.
