(More customer reviews)I have been using minnow seines for over 30 years. I purchased the Frabill seine and was pleased with the quality of materials used in its construction. My disappointment came when I used it. The bottom of the net is not properly weighted, causing it to rise off the bottom when being dragged. Of course this means that the minnows swim out under the net. After 6 passes through water dense with minnows I only managed to catch two of them when I should have caught thousands. If you actually want to catch minnows do NOT buy this product. When I complained about the net's performance to the sales clerk his response was to buy lead weights and sew them to the bottom. This net should be properly weighted at the factory, why should I pay for and install extra weights to make this product work? I returned the net for a refund and will continue to use my 20 year old net until I can find one to replace it that actually works.

Franklin Sports Soft-Toss Target Net, 80 Inch X 120 Inch Review

(More customer reviews)My daughter is big into softball with pitching clinics and travel teams, etc. I bought this for use as a target net and a back-drop for when I'm catching for her (saves me running after the balls I miss). The target net is constructed much like a three-sided camping tent with collapsable poles and stakes for securing the corners. The multi-segmented, hollow pole sections are made from a fiber-glass-like material and have a thin elastic cord running through them from end to end. One end of each section has a 3" metal pipe section that is bonded on to keep it in place. This short pipe provides a female end to which the next pole section can be inserted, with the elastic cord holding all the sections together. When assembled, the 12' poles are inserted into tubes sewn into the seams of the tent. Each must be inserted to make a cross, then each must be gently bent until the ends of the poles can be inserted into cups at the corners. These cups have loops attached through which the ground stakes hold down the assembly.
Negative reviews are not generally appreciated on Amazon, but I feel obligated as a frequent internet buyer to offer up one today.
Seemed like a good idea when I put it together for the first time, although it was a bit cumbersome with the long poles being fed through fabric tubes of the same length. During one of our practices, we heard a crack and suddenly one of the two poles broke. After disassembly and inspection, one of the fiber poles had broken right at the steel pipe section where the stress is highest. Inspecting further, I realized that the middle sections of the poles had plastic sleeves on them, presumably for adding strength where the bend radius is highest. By cleaning out the broken end from the steel pipe and shaving back the plastic sleeve, I was able to reproduce a male end to connect back into the pipe. Cutting to the end, this breaking was quite frequent. The net did make it through half a season before 7 repairs had been done, and finally two of the pipe sections split along their entire length. The poles are simply under-sized or the wrong material for this application. Given low reliability and lack of assembly/disassembly ease, I gave two stars. Consider something better constructed and more portable for serious practice.

(More customer reviews)I was looking everywhere for a good sturdy volleyball system that wasn't going to cost me more than $100. I went to Sports Authority several times and most of the systems that I saw there were made of very cheap looking PVC pipe and didn't have half the features of this great set. So I went and bought it from Target, which is actually where you are buying this set from even if you order from here.
So I bought it early in the morning one day before going to the beach. It must have taken us about half an hour to set up. It isn't very hard to follow the instructions that it brings and once you attach the tensioners on the pole, you never have to do it again, and everything else just snaps together. The included sand discs were a life saver because we quickly realized the stakes would not hold solid in the sand.
Once we had this thing set up, we found some other people on the beach and played a few games. When we got tired and were heading for the water, another group of people just started playing on our court! We told them that as long as they took care of it, that it was fine. One kid landed on one of the poles and nearly knocked it over, but all he had to do was pull it straight which only took a whole two seconds. After they were done, we played another 5 games. All in all it made our beach trip very very enjoyable and I love this thing. I'm looking forward to many more beach days with it. (I live in miami).
My only recommendation is that you go to walmart or a hardware store and buy 180 feet of cheap yellow rope because the very thin white one that comes with the set for marking the court boundaries is hard to see. Once you have the rope, tie or crimp the ends together. When you set up your court, simply stretch the rope in a rectangle, and now you have your more visible court boundary. You might also want to bring a small shovel with you to the beach to bury the sand discs. No hammer required unless you are playing lawn volleyball.

I'm sure glad I went with the Spectrum 2000. It arrived in good shape and very quickly (4days). I was not given a choice on what color.I was concerned because I read another person got an orange one. To my suprise I got a blue and thats the color I wanted. The poles were thicker and telescopic to three hights, the othes didn't offer this feature. The pins were 10 in. most others were 8 inches. This made a difference in staking out the poles in soft soil. It went up in a very short time. Very easy to take down and put up. The carry bag is convient to transport to my son's home as well as the beach. I an quite pleased and feel I got more than I even ecpected.

(More customer reviews)This has been "the" outdoor net system for serious outdoor grass players for over twenty years, and I see nothing changing. The poles are the easiest to set up I've ever used, very sturdy, and set up a tight net.
The net itself on the system I received was defective. This is very rare for this company, and even more rare was the service I received when I called their toll free number: immediate satisfaction. They didn't even ask that I bother to send back the defective net, just take a digital photo and send it over the internet. Oh yea, they sent the net before I even got around to sending them the e-mail! This meant that my high school girls team could use it at the time I had planned. This service is greatly appreciated by our team, and I'm a customer for life.
This system has been updated since the days I played competitive outdoor ball, and the new tightening handles on the guylines are entirely effective, no-slip, very easy to use and strong. What more could one ask for?
Overall, if you're a serious outdoor player, you could not go wrong with this system. There are other systems that put up a great net, but none that are this easy to set up.Thomas Barefoot

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it took me a lot longer to set up than was advertised. It's possible that my lack of experience in setting these things up that had something to do with that. Overall I highly recommend!

(More customer reviews)When the box arrived at my door right away I was impressed at how large it was. This is nothing like the cheap volleyball/badmitten/horseshoe combo sets you can buy in a store and all the pieces fit in a tiny bag. This thing is solid and well made. This thing is built to last and stand up to some hard use.
The things I like about this set are:
* Comes WITH ball and ball pump.
* Comes WITH a large nylon bag to store the thing in when not in use.
* Has durable metal ground stakes that the the poles fit over, so you aren't making huge holes in the yard.
* The poles themselves are very sturdy thick aluminum, I'd say 2 inches in diameter if not more.
* Comes with guide ropes that are very sturdy yellow braided nylon.
* The net appears very well made, unlike some of the tangled thin messes you get in a cheaper set.
* The net has 3 adjustable heights 7 feet, 7' 4" and 8".
* There is also a feature with the net so you can keep track of score
* There is of course an instruction guide, which includes official rules to the game.
The ball itself is pretty nice it's got kind of a "cushy" feel to it. Much better than the uber hard ones that make red marks on your arms. In school when I played volleyball most of the balls were much better quality than the one included here, but really - the one they included is a fine alternative. Unless you are really taking your volleyball seriously, this ball will be fine. And if you do take your volleyball seriously, then you'd already HAVE a better model to use.
This set is going to be good for jr/sr. high school age kids, college students, or drunk relatives at family reunions. It seems so much sturdier than many sets on the market. I think if someone stumbles into the net it's not going to break anything, which is all you really can ask for when getting a volleyball set.
