Ive had these for a couple months now and am a firm beliver in the firm hold of the flicklock. I used REI poles for a while (don't even bother) which would slip 5 or 10 cm every mile or so. I was considering Leki and read their locking mechanism fails in very cold weather so this was the obvious winner. The shock feature is nice as is the lower grip for the inclines. Very lightweight, any lighter you'd have to get carbon fiber, and unless you baby those they are prone to snapping (believe me, I know all too well). A winner through and through!!!

Black Diamond Trail Shock Trekking Poles We've looked for well-priced trekking pole with shock in them and added Black Diamond Trail Shock Trekking Poles. The unique Control Shock Technology is a 4-stage shock absorption that smooths out light strikes, absorbs medium strikes and prevents hard botoming-out while controlling rebound. Shock is a great feature to consider if you've got any arm, wrist and hand joint issues, like carpal tunnel or arthritis. It stealthily adds the shock needed to these tender joints to alleviate the jarring. Additionally, this pole has the dual density grip top to grab when you need it along with a comfy padded web strap.
