The book is quite good if you know nothing about analog filters synthesis. The information is quite good and it's presented really well. It gets straight to the point and because of that it's quite helpful.
But, if you are looking for a way to implement those filters in Matlab, this is NOT the right book for you. It has almost nothing about using Matlab or any of its functions. The few functions it mentions are old Matlab 5.2 versions of them which no longer exist, are no longer useful or have been replaced by better ones.
It's a good book about Analog Filters, with almost no Matlab on it.

I'm using this book in conjunction with an experimental methods class this semester. I did have some exposure to LabVIEW before, but this book has taught me more in two chapters than I learned all last semester. (It's also been a very basic review of waves). The material is presented in an intelligent order and I've had no trouble finding things. The layout lends well to self teaching as well.
