(More customer reviews)I bought the Scotty Striker rod holders with Alaska Halibut fishing in mind. I was looking for a heavy duty unit to hold thick rods with big reels that have underside rod clamps. The Strikers answer the call! I also needed to buy the mount end caps separately for rail mounting, since I wanted to mount these off my bow rail, as I had plenty of rod holders at the stern of the boat. The base stays clamped to the rail while the holder pulls out for storage. The holder has a splined stem that key fits the base and allows for indexed rotation so you can position your rod horizontally as you want. A knob on the left side of the holder allows indexed vertical adjustment as well. The rear of the holder swings up to remove the rod, while the front "cradle" remains in place. They are among the nicest rod holders on the market. AD, Alaska
