(More customer reviews)A friend purchase this rod for me. i am very disappointed with it first thing it is being affected by salt water after the first fishing trip it start to sign of rusting although it was washed of with fresh water after the trip. on the second trip it broke that was the end of it. very very poor quality and the reel is also of poor design and quality. the only good thing is that it can fold up nice and easy to store.

Stoney Point Telescoping Explorer Bipod (Grey, 25-62-Inch) Review

(More customer reviews)First it showed up to the house in broken and dirty condition. They had obviously been used, returned and re-sent out. I payed for a new one, Not Used and Broken. The keeper that holds the two sticks together was broken right out of the package. Baring that, it is a great product. I used them this weekend to support a 9 lb. Mosin Nagant rifle. Even in strong winds it kept the rifle steady. They are easy to extend to the appropriate height even with gloves or mittens. The poles did rattle while walking because of the broken pole keeper which was distracting while trying to be quiet on the trail. I suspect Amazon or Stoney Point will contact me in order to fix the problem. Just do not want to pay more money to ship them back to amazon for a new set.

It is exactly how it is described. It was just a little shy of 14 ft. 9 but still very happy. The end where you hold it is covered with a material that gives a good grip. The reel works and is filled with line, ready to fish. I have not tried yet but it feels great. Before ordering I exchanged emails with the owner, to be sure that he has the length as advertised. He send me and extra spool. Thank you. Shipping; I got it in three days.

(More customer reviews)Purchased so I could keep it in my car for those "Just in case" moments. Used it several times and have two general gripes that leave me wanting more.
1) the reel doesn't seem that great. I understand it isn't a $100, 10bb, graphite coated reel, but at the same time I have other inexpensive reels that are lighter, appear more durable, and actually lock when forward motion stops. It just feels sloppy. Did I mention the paint chips almost immediately... just annoying.
2) While I realize a multi-part rod will eventually come apart, this one seems to do it rather quickly. After every 4-5 casts I found myself adjusting one part of the rod or another.
Other than that the setup and breakdown times are short, and it is handy to have. I could probably just swap reels, but why should I have to. I just keep wondering if another $15 dollars would have given me more peace of mind.

(More customer reviews)I bought this mainly for the rod. I have tried many telescopic rods, and most are far from perfect, including this one, but, this is the best one I have found so far. What I liked most about this one is the small size, it is very easy to put in a small pack or fishing purse. It is fairly sturdy for it's size, I have reeled in a few decent size trout with it. I don't think I would use it for anything larger that 12-14" trout. The only problems I had with the rod, was some of the eyes weren't glued too well, and would come loose. I just glued them back and all is good now. Overall, a good combo for the price.

(More customer reviews)I recently sailed a 40 ft catamaran around the Florida Keys and wanted to do some occasional fishing.
We took the dinghy out to the #18 red marker just south of the Boca Grande channel, tied off, chummed with some shrimp and began fishing. We had stripped off the flimsy looking mono that came with the reels and replaced with 8.b test Spider mono. We used a swivel to some 30lb test leader and no weight. We baited with whole shrimp hooked from the tail up through the body.
Within 10 minutes we caught and landed 3 yellowtail jacks that were easily 8 to 10 lbs each. The fight was excellent with the fish peeling off drag from time to time. The rod was bent almost double as we turned the fish and wound down. Pretty good stuff for a telescopic device. The drag worked perfectly and was smooth. It was a good 5 minute fight as we gained back line only to lose it again with with furious runs by the jack. .....very fun..... With the last fish a 7 ft. shark actually chased the hooked fish up to the inflatable dinghy and that's when we felt it was time to go.....
This maybe isn't a rod to win a bass tourny with..... but for something to throw into your suitcase and take on vacation..... it's pretty good. Definitely switch out the line with your own and you are good to go.
