(More customer reviews)I think this book is a great reference manual. As a pole instructor - I focus more on tricks than dance, fitness vs. sensuality - I did find a few things in this book I would like to add to my warm ups.
I've never been an exotic dancer a day in my life so I cannot comment on other sections beyond the pole. I thought the lapdance and chair sections looked fun.
This book is easy to follow and understand. I think some of the movement is "over done" and far too dramatic but (hey what do I know? I'm a pole monkey) if you want a book to learn to be "sexy" for your hubby then this a great book full of all sorts of ideas and easy to follow choreography.
This is a good broad spectrum book about exotic dance. I would suggest buying it and looking through it if you are considering taking any pole fitness/dance or exotic type dance classes to see how you feel. It's easy sometimes to feel a little silly doing hip circles and rolls in class with a bunch of other women (but it gets very fun and silly!)
I really am enjoying this read, the anecdotes are funny, the music list is great, this book is just full of all sorts of cute little ideas. The instruction really is easy to follow - this is the main thing that I liked about it.
If you are looking for any type of advanced instruction this book is not for you. The most advanced this book gets is basic inversion. If you are an advanced pole dancer looking to be an instructor, this is a good read for you. You'll want to pay attention to the breakdowns of the moves and the sequences she explains them in. If you've never been an exotic dancer and want to teach, this is a great book about sensual movement - if that's the type of classes you would like to teach. I would even suggest allowing your students to borrow it.
If you're a "pole gymnast" (I just like the term, that's how I see it) then you'll likely not gain much out of this book. I would recommend Vertical Dance Videos to you. I'd also look into books by Eric Franklin which discuss more anatomy and body conditioning for flexy, bendy moves on the pole.
All in all - good beginners book, good reference manual for instructors, the DVD is fun!

Mueller Stickum Grip Enhancer Powder Spray Review

(More customer reviews)I've been a longtime (4 years) user of one-piece Ice Hockey sticks with Bauer style 'stick um' on the surface of the shaft (from the factory). I find that this Stickum spray provides a very similar surface grip on non-factory applied stickum sticks. I recently purchased a bottle of this mueller product and have applied it twice to the shaft of my synergy sticks about 30 minutes before game-time. The stickum grip lasts about 2 weeks for me (about 4 games) and it doesn't gum-up my gloves at all (so far). I'm very please with this product. It certainly does what it says it will and costs about half the price of the difference between grip sticks and non-grip sticks. My only complaint is that it doesn't come in a non-aerosol pump.

X-Pole Dance Pole 45mm set SPORT MODEL Review

(More customer reviews)Before you buy, be aware this is NOT a spinning pole. It is a stationary pole. I did not know this when I purchased it (it's not really mentioned here), so it was rather expensive to swap out for the pole I actually wanted (due to shipping).
In good news, X-pole makes good poles. The design is sturdy, does not take a large amount of space, and is fairly easy to put together. You might need a little help lifting it up in the end, just to be safe, but otherwise, any lady could assemble this easily. It took me about half an hour.
In bad news, this surface is Extremely Slippery. Even with "Mighty Grip" or "Dry Hands", you tend to slide off after a short amount of climbing/doing tricks.
Stationary vs Spinning:
If you are an awesome gymnast, capable of untold feats on the pole, or if you don't mind looking completely stupid, stationary is fine. What do I mean? Well, with a spinning pole, even simple things most people can do look pretty neat, just because you are spinning at the same time. It's a pleasant distraction that tricks your audience (even if the audience is just you or some girlfriends) into thinking "wow, that looks neat". On the other hand, when the pole does not spin, everything looks a little less glamorous and interesting, so unless you can bust out some crazy moves and have the flexibility of saltwater taffy, you just won't look good. Trust me. We had a party, and none of my friends felt great about how things went, and half of us are either dancers or gymnasts. Moral of the story: if you are going to spend money on a good pole, like an X-Pole, go ahead and get a spinning one; otherwise, just get one of those crappy cheap ones.
I recommend the Xpert 50 mm Titanium Gold. It spins and has a slightly less slippery surface, and the thicker pole (as opposed to 45mm) makes it easier to grip with your legs, so you can do more climbs and hang on with your body. It's $100 more, but well worth it,

Mighty Grip Pole Dance gloves with out Tack Review

The "tacky" one is not good for me (the palm is basically "pleather/vinyl" type skin), so I used the non-tack glove. The first thing that bugged me was that there was a seam that went across the palm. Why on earth there is a seam on the palm of a glove where the palm is extensively used, I have no idea. However, it didn't bug me too much and I got used to it.
I have used the non-tack gloves TWICE and they are already falling apart. The seam on the palm is coming undone and the seam around the thumb and on the wrist is undone as well. Like I said, I have used them TWICE and I won't be able to use them again. I am very disappointed in the quality of the glove.
I don't feel that I can return the gloves because I've already used them although I will be returning the tack one. I thought everyone should know what an inferior product this is and to save your money.

X-Pole SPORT 50mm Set - Titanium Gold (TG) Set Review

Before ordering the X Pole Titanium Gold in 50mm, I did a lot of research before finally deciding on this pole. Its predecessor, X Pole Chrome despite the same ease of installation and non-permanence as the TG, lacks the grip of brass poles. Brass, as I understand it is too malleable to be used as a removable pole yet stainless steel, it all its sturdy splendor does not provide the grip attributed to brass.
My father, a metallurgist by profession explained to me that it's very difficult to coat stainless steel. How X Pole Titanium Gold has resolved the issue of grip vs. stability. I would say the X Pole Titanium Gold exhibits 85%-90% the gripping power of traditional brass. It is also far more stable and stronger than brass. Brass, installed as a permanent pole can creak and give a little when enough weight/force is exerted upon it. My pole has been up for nearly a month, with nearly daily use and it has yet to budge or creak. I weigh about 120lbs but my friend and I have together tried to shake the pole out of its installation but fortunately to no avail.
The original X Pole Chrome, was a great pole but if one lacks the strength in her hands, climbing and gripping becomes an issue. I could not climb half way up the Chrome version without sliding yet, the traditional brass one, I stuck to like white on rice. The X Pole Titanium Gold is perhaps the compromise between the two, yet it still retains qualities of both metals. You lose a bit of the grip but you gain stability. Some may say brass has too much grip and impedes the ability for one to spin and pivot, so a reduction in grip could serve to be quite beneficial.
The spinning mode is super easy to adjust to with the removal of 2 small bearings in the base, just be careful not to lose these. Response of the pole is satisfactory, though the more you weigh, obviously the more momentum you gain.
The only draw back I see, despite its tendency to get smothered in visible finger prints (something not attributed to the chrome version) is the durability of the electronic coating. I noticed a few spots that have rubbed off which could be due to having abraded by the metal on someone's clothing. If you don't do so already, I would remove all jewelry and avoid wearing any clothing with metal, including zippers, studs, and grommets.
I love this pole and believe it was a great investment for a removable pole, installation was super simple if you just follow the written directions and video. The learning curve is extremely sharp and once you install it, it will take you hardly any time to remove it and install it again the next time. Though I installed it by myself, I would recommend having someone assist you as it's a real ache getting the thing stabilized and simultaneously turning a wrench. If you have higher than 9 foot ceilings, there are extensions available from vendors to adjust it to greater heights.
I am not a dancer by profession but love doing pole work to get in shape, so please keep in mind the feedback from my perspective. Hope this helps. Happy pole dancing.

(More customer reviews)The pole was terribly easy to install...it would have been easier if I had a drill, but as it was I got it up and using it within minutes. The hardest part was finding a stud in the ceiling but I believe that was more operator error. Now that I installed the more permanent fixture I can take it down and store it in...maybe two minutes. So if I have company over, or my parents, I need not worry. It is great, sturdy, and you feel safe. Also the permanent attachment on the ceiling comes with a decorative hook so that you don't have to explain away the little clip. It is such a great pole. I am using it for exercise and dancing, but I definitely feel as though this pole could easily handle aeriels. Also, it does come with a friction based set up, so you don't have to drill into the ceiling.

It doesn't transfer onto to pole, and doesn't dryout my hands. Not to mention, you need only a small amount. My husband even uses it for softball and rock climbing. I have my friends hooked on it too...drumming, softball, golf, baseball, rock climbing, weight lifting, etc. A multi-purpose use that works great!
