In Good Girls Pole Rider's Club by Kimona Jaye, the main character Shaundra finds an ambitious stripper's business card in her boyfriend's back pocket, she decides it is time to learn some new tricks. If dropping it like it's hot is what her man wants, then that is what she is going to give him. She and her girlfriends-- Shay, Brenda, and Karina dec ide to purchase a stripper's pole and learn how to work it like the pros. All in the name of claiming their lives back. Shay is a bored housewife, married to a preacher; Shaundra is the mother of a rebellious teenager; Karina is Weight Watchers' number one client; and Brenda is a peace officer who is ready to get wild for the first time in her life.
First we meet Shaundra, riding a wave of anger after finding a business card from a stripper in her boyfriend's pocket. Already tight-faced because he lied about being garnished for child support, she quickly figures out that he is giving money to strippers on a regular basis. She sees the pole as a way of reclaiming her man's attention and keeping his money in his pocket. What she does not bank on is her daughter diving head first into her teen years with her free-spirited sister, Niecee, making matters worse. Next is Shay who is growing increasingly tired of her humdrum marriage and even less exciting sex life as the wife of a preacher. To her, the pole represents the spark that her marriage needs and a way to keep her mind off her ex-boyfriend, Darius, who is serving time. What she does not realize is that her sexual frustration runs much deeper than she could ever imagine, threatening to drown her in her own turmoil. Brenda is the reserved officer, secretly dying to shed her heavy shell and the pole gives her just that chance. But she soon realizes that she has bit off more than she can chew. And I definitely did not see the twist coming with Shaundra's sister, Niecee!
Kimona Jaye weaves a very entertaining tale with this book, however, the story was widely centered around Shaundra, Shay and Brenda, to the point that when Karina was mentioned I was wondering who she was and where she came from. I definitely would have liked to know the story behind the volatile relationship between Shaundra and her daughter. Also, the ending left a lot of unanswered questions as no one's dilemma was truly solved. I noticed in the author's acknowledgements that this book is a part of a series, I truly hope that she will bring back these lively characters to give her readers some closure or continuation of their storylines. I will definitely be on the lookout for her next book!

Choices
STRIPPER POLE TO HEAVEN by Hunter Hayes is a story of two friends, Lisette and Cynthia. Lisette Jones is a single mother of a teenaged daughter. After the death of her daughter's dad, and in order to maintain the comfortable lifestyle she had been accustomed to, she lands a job at Club Bare working as a stripper. Here she transforms herself into her persona "Golden." Golden is the highest-paid stripper at the club and a favorite amongst the patrons. As soon as Golden exits the building, Lisette is dressed classy, front and center at church, whether it is to hear the Word of God or for choir rehearsal. She is a Christian woman who is determined to raise her teenage daughter with the same values. Did I forget to mention her daughter is clueless on Lisette's profession?
Cynthia Miller is Lisette's best friend. She is the only one that knows Lisette's true profession. Cynthia is a high-ranking company manager at Target Marketing. Cynthia is married to Clyde, a man who is unappreciative and mentally and physically abusive. Cynthia has a close relationship with God and trys to find the good in most everything. Eventually Clyde takes things too far and it leaves Cynthia on her knees praying to God and realizing that a change needs to be made.
STRIPPER POLE TO HEAVEN by Hunter Hayes is a story of friendship. A friendship that stands the tests of time, that does not judge nor condemn one's choices in life. I had to laugh in the very beginning of the story; it goes from Golden working the pole to rushing out to church choir practice. This is not your typical read by far. There did appear to be repitition of some scenes. Aside from the back and forth, STRIPPER POLE TO HEAVEN was a good read.

In these hard times, most of us want to believe in something; a higher power, or maybe even more in ourselves. But some of us have to learn the hard way, that getting money isn't the answer to everything....When Lisette Jones transforms herself into "Golden" and hits the stage as a stripper, it's all or nothing---a dedication that's earning her top dollar at Club Bare. With the untimely death of her ex, it's a profession that chose her, so Lisette's determined to make it work, even if it means chasing dollars to maintain the comfortable lifestyle that she and her teenaged daughter are accustomed to. Being in the spotlight turns out to be downright addictive, but it doesn't help to fill the void of losing loved ones. Meet the possible solution in Cynthia, her scripture-quoting, bible-toting best friend. It's because of an invite from her that Lisette stumbles upon just the comfort she's been seeking in a higher power. Comforted, yes. Cured of all fears of remaining single and becoming possibly broke? No. For Lisette it's all about the here and now and to prevent getting stuck with nothing she's down for juggling everything; her closeted profession, giving love another try and her spiritual walk. Unfortunately---- it's a decision that she may have to pay the ultimate price tag for.AndCynthia Miller may be "scripture quoting and bible toting," but her life is far from perfect. When she walks through the doors of Target Marketing she's a high-ranking company manager, but just past the doorstop of her apartment, her abusive husband Clyde is the one calling all of the shots. Being both the ideal wife and consummate office exec is demanding, but the balancing act is a goal that Cynthia has set for herself; from shedding her homely image with what she believes will be a life-changing makeover, to indulging in her husband's twisted sexual fantasies nothing's off limits. But what will it take for her to realize that the only makeover she ever needed was the one on the inside?
