(More customer reviews)Solidly built, even specifications (i.e. uniform thickness), smooth with basically no chance you'd get splinters even if you regularly use your bare hands on the surface. I use the pole exclusively for stretching, and I find the full 6 feet necessary to to over-the-shoulder exercises holding the pole perpendicular to my height (i.e. not up-and-down but across.) Weight of pole gives it a "solid" feel.

(More customer reviews)I ordered a Hickory Walking Stick and got something made of Bianbai Wood. What??? Try doing a search for Bianbai Wood. I'm not even sure there is such a thing. And even if there is, I bought hickory. The product information states that they are the "largest supplier in the U.S." and that the product is "handcrafted from wood in the U.S." In truth, the product is shipped from Canada and Made in China. "Handcrafted from wood in the U.S"...I've never seen, much less heard of a tree called a Bianbai...oh wait, the back of the tag says it is made from "All New Material"...hmmm, maybe that's it. It's a brand new tree, but again, I paid for hickory. Like the other reviewer said, the bottom isn't finished either. He said they skipped finishing his under the tip, on mine it's the bottom 10 inches. it goes from a nice, dark brown finish to blonde bare wood. To be fair, it does seem sturdy and it has a good feel to it. Lightweight also. I just expect to get what is advertised, as I'm sure you do as well. I will keep the staff because I'm leaving on a hiking trip next week. However, I will not buy anything from this company again. Companies need to learn that we can just as easily buy our things from others. This is false advertisement at best. Oh, I almost forgot, it does come with a flower etched into it. Wish I would have read that review before I bought it, because the pic doesn't show it and it isn't mentioned in the description. I'm a guy. I don't like flowers on my stuff. If you wanna buy a walking staff that is nothing like it is portrayed in the description, made of bianbai wood, and made in china, well then this is perfect for you.

(More customer reviews)This is a great hiking stick. The top hard wood knob has a built in compass, and is good to bash critters/persons that come at you in an aggressive manner. It also has a good wrist band made out of elastic that comes in quite handy. There is also a nice carrying strap. The stick can be extended or collapsed just buy twisting it a few times.
The hiking stick is collapsable and consists of three sections total. An added bonus is that there are "tick marks" measured off in increments along the extended portion of the hiking stick so you can measure the depth of any water obstacles that you come along. However, the measurements are in "metric". Kind of baffling. I just used a conversion scale and scratched the "english" measurement underneath the metric.
The handle screws off to offer a small compartment where you can store some matches or an emergency fishing kit or some sort of small items that may come in handy. The hiking stick comes with a hard plastic "V" that screws on in place of the hard wood handle. This is used for hunters for a rifle rest. Also, once the hard wood handle is screwed off, you can screw a camera in its place and the stick makes a good stand for photogrophy purposes.
About the only thing I can say "bad" about this hiking stick is that the rubber tip for the point of the stick has a tendency to un-screw itself when hiking. After a while it does get kind of aggravating, so one day I just tightened the tip a little too much and stripped out the threads in the collapsable sections and ruined my stick. I bought a second stick and used thread tape to help keep the rubber tip on. Now I have NO problems. I would suggest you do the same if you buy this hiking stick. Another "bad" comment is that this stick is kind of "pricey". However, as another reviewer commented, this hiking stick is worth every penny.
I have also used this stick to help hold up a poncho during a rain storm and also as a splint to keep a fellow hikers leg straight when she injured her leg/ankle. The alternate uses for this hiking stick is only limited to your imagination.

The Tracks Compact Travel Staff is hand-built with high-strength, lightweight anodized aluminum tubing. It features an upper section with push-button length adjustment and two shock-corded lower sections for compact storage and travel. Its length is adjustable between 48 and 54 inches (122 and 138 centimeters), its stored length is 19 inches (48 centimeters), and it weighs 10.5 ounces (300 grams). An elastic keeper strap secures the staff when collapsed.
