(More customer reviews)This product was exactly what we were looking for: We did not want to drill holes in the wall or ceiling; we wanted to hang one bike vertically in a very small apartment; we wanted to sort of "hide" the bike behind the front door (and still be able to open the door); we wanted the design and color of the rack to blend into the background; we wanted a product that would work with a 9' ceiling; we wanted a product that would hold a Trek hybrid bike.
We got all that we wanted.
More written directions would have been helpful--we assembled it on move-in day and in our fatigue, our brains were slow to grasp the picture directions. Remember to feed the hanger hooks onto the poles before screwing the poles together. If you are hanging one bike vertically, you will have to guesstimate where the hooks should go. (We used common sense and didn't have to redo the hook placement.) Remember to re-tighten all the screws after you get it all assembled, as the tension on the rods shifts after raising the rack into a vertical position. Also be aware that, although all necessary allen wrenches are included, you will need to have a ladder or stool to work on the ceiling tension. Do not use a chair to reach the ceiling--it is not safe to stand on a chair!!
Also: A female can lift a bike to hang it on the hooks--no problem.
